My puppy has a bump on his head that seems to be growing. What is it?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 25 days old | 60 lbs

My dog will be 7 months on the 14th of June. And I noticed a bump on his head. Some days it looks normal or so I hope for it to be. Today I when I got home I noticed it seemed to get a little bigger. I was looking for a second opinion and or explanation for what it could possibly be.

This could just be a normal formation of your dog skull. If it is not getting bigger, does not feel like it has fluid in it and there is no discharge I would recommend just measuring it once a day for about a week and seeing if it truly is getting bigger or not. If it is not it's likely a normal skull developing. If it is getting bigger then have your veterinarian take a look.

    This could have been a little injury to the bone in that area which then, trying to heal itself, made more new bone cells than needed. This may go away over time, or stay. The other possibility could be that there was a fracture, or cyst or other fluid filled cavity. Carefully palpate that bump and if it feels soft or fluctuating you need to have this examined by a veterinarian.

I would recommend that you have this lump checked out by a vet. There could be several different causes, but if this lump has been present for a while now it may indicate something very serious, like a defect in the skull. If it has only been there recently, it could be caused by swelling from trauma, insect bite, infection, among a few others. After thorough examination, the vet may recommend diagnostics such as x-rays or cytology to determine what is causing Pandora's lump.

This is likely a small cyst/blocked gland and likely benign. Continue to monitor for any increase in size or change in color and ask your vet to check it out at her next wellness exam or earlier if anything changes

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pumpkin. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian if the bump is growing. A procedure known as a fine needle aspirate may be performed. The veterinarian will use a small needle to collect a sample of cells to evaluate under the microscope. This will tell if there is an infection under the skin such as an abscess, a benign growth, a build up for fluid or even skin cancer. Based on these results, treatment recommendations can be made. Hello. This could just be an odd looking cyst or wart, but it does not look overly aggressive or worrisome to me. Just point this out to your veterinarian at Chainz's next veterinary visit so it is documented in the record. At some point, removal may be recommended, but definitely not at this point in time. What may cause a bump on my 3 1/2 month puppy's head? I did not witness any trauma, but it seemed to develop out of nowhere
It is usually cause by hitting the head on something hard or bu an insect bite. monitor it for 3-4 days to make sure the swelling is going down, if it doesn't please take him to your vet in order to get it checked.

Sudden bump on top of dogs head
A bump can be any number of things from an insect bite to infection/abscess, cyst or adnormal growth. If it is growing rapidly, is painful or changes in color or size quickly I would have Skookum checked by a vet.

Thor has developed a lump between his eyes on his head... Is it normal or?
First, great pictures and highlighting of the lump! This appears to be a fluid-filled lump. Usually puppies get these when they bang their head on something and then fluid accumulated under the skin. However, I do worry about congenital defects that could cause accumulation of CNS fluid under the skin. If Thor is otherwise acting and looking normal, then either way, it's not an emergency. If he is acting weird, then best to have a veterinarian check him out. If it was just a bump, then the swelling will start going down within a couple of days. If it continues to grow, then it would be concerning enough to make an appointment with a vet. An easy way to detect growth or shrinking is to draw around the edge to the swelling with a magic marker. It will look silly, but it's really easy to tell if the border of the swelling has moved. I hope this helps.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Why is there a small red bump on my dog's head?
It’s hard to say without a photo what the bump is and whether or not you need to be concerned about it. It could be a tumor/mass, a spot of infection, or a skin tag. If it is changing/growing it would be a good idea to have it checked by your veterinarian.
