Will my dog forget me or be happy when I return after months?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 78.8 lbs

Will he forget me? I'm leaving and my neighbour is looking after him for me he'll have to be chained as he isn't house broken he won't have time to walk him as he goes to work early and comes home late he only has time to feed him the chain is 14ft idk if I'll be gone 6 weeks or 6 months I can't afford dog boarding He isn't aggressive but I'm worried after being chained for so long will he forget me and bite me on my return or be glad to see me when I'm home he has free run of a 5 acre feild

That sounds like an awfully big change for Spring, so he may experience some anxiety and stress about being chained up, especially if he hasn't before. Spring likely won't forget you if you return to him, as dogs have gone years before seeing their owners again and are usually happy at their return. Looking into seeing if someone else can watch him that can give him more time, or seeing if a rescue can take him temporarily into foster care may be better off for his mental and physical well-being. Being chained all day long with little exercise or care likely isn't the best for him. You may try contacting a local shelter in your area to see if they have any programs such as temporary fostering that may be a better option.
