My older canary is stressed with a lump and struggling to lay eggs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed | 8 years and 11 months old | 1lb

My canary has a large lump on her abdomen and looks stressed at the bottom of the cage. She has already laid one egg successfully a few days ago, but looks as though she might be having difficulty with this egg. She is also an older bird of eight years. I have raised the tempreture of the room,as the last two days temperatures plummeted suddenly even though it is now June and normally quite warm. What else would be helpful ?

The egg may need to be manually removed or collapsed if is stuck inside and if it is creating an obstruction. A check up would be needed to confirm this clinical suspicion and treat appropriately.
