Just got a Chihuahua mix. What health problems should I be aware of?

I just got a Chihuahua mix.Are there any health concerns to worry about

Chihuahua are typically healthy dogs but a few common problems associated with the breed include patella luxations, collapsing trachea, and dental disease. The best thing would be to have him examined by a vet for a check-up to identify any abnormalities. I also recommend having him neutered.

    Hi the most common health concerns I see in Chihuahua's and mixes are luxating patellars (slipping knee caps), which is a hereditary problem, sometimes requires surgery. Also they suffer from early dental disease - if you can slowly train JoJo to accept toothbrushing (look on you tube for videos on how to brush your dogs teeth, eg the Banfield channel) this will help slow progression of tooth and gun disease. Annual professional teeth cleanings are strongly encouraged. Good luck with your new pup!
