My Welsh terrier has pancreatitis. Are they prone to this disease?

3 year old Welsh terrier female diagnosed with pancreatitis. Vet told us that the breed is particularly susceptible to this disease yet I can find no reference to this anywhere online? Your opinion please. Thank you. Pet's info: Dog | Welsh Terrier | Female | spayed | 2 years and 1 month old

Hello Terriers in general can be predisposed to pancreatitis. This includes West Highland Terrier's, schnauzers, and mix breed Terriers. I would discuss with your veterinarian if they feel anything can be done to prevent future episodes. Sometimes changing their diet to something that is low in fat or even a prescription intestinal diet helps prevent future flare ups.
