Dog won't walk after grooming, is short fur causing heat sensitivity?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Havanese | Male | unneutered | 1 year old

Kiba is acting weird, he doesn't want to go on walks and I have to drag him to come after me. He dashes into shade and doesn't want to come out or he tries to sit in tall grass and won't come. Is he really that bothered by the heat? I took him for a walk at 9 am, it wasn't that warm yet and I gave him water along the way. He's been all jittery since he was groomed, his fur hasn't been this short before. I don't know if that is bitgering his skin? No signs of irritation, eats well etc

Hello! Yes, you are right, it is definitely possible that his new hair cut is making him more sensitive to heat, and to being outside. For now, could you give him some time to adjust, by just being outside, with just a short walk to go the bathroom? His hair will grow back quickly, and I'm sure he just needs a little time to adjust. Hope Kiba is back to his normal self soon!
