My dog is antisocial and aggressive. Can he live with another dog?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Poodle | Male | neutered | 10 years and 6 months old | 15.4 lbs

My dog is very antisocial due to not interacting with dogs when he was young. What do you recommend we do? A trainer? I've wanted another dog for a while now but each time we foster or take care of another families dog, Bobo is always avoiding them and if they get too close he snarls or barks.. They were both puppies, maybe an older dog who's more calm would be more fit?

At Bobo's age getting him to accept another dog in the house may be very difficult. I think your idea of having a trainer involved is the best step. Some trainers can work one on one with you in a house where as others have training facilities. SometimesA younger dog is easier for an older dog to accept but a lot of times it doesn't matter.
