Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered
Hi, I have a 11 months old male cat. He is very adorable but lately he started going out and fights with other street cats.He became very aggressive and howls a lot if we don't let him out. We never let him out since he was small but lately his behaviour is haunting us.Late nights meow's howls ,fighting with other cats and ost important disturbing neighbours. My question is will neutering him will stop this behaviour? Will he be at home after neutering?

Hi. Yes, neutering will help Toby want to stay home more and hopefully make him less likely to fight. It can take a couple of months after the surgery for his testosterone levels to completely drop but neutering typically does resolve a lot of male to male aggression in cats.

It's possible that neutering would help since testosterone may make Cream Puff feel more territorial. Unfortunately even neutered cats can have inter-cat aggression issues to it may not completely solve the problem. If you don't plan to breed Cream Puff I think neutering is a good idea for multiple reasons, and if it doesn't solve the problem there are other things you can try to help all the cats get along.

Great question! Yes, neutering them will help reduce the aggression. Intact male cats fight for territory and females, and having them neutered takes away the desire for territory and females. I recommend having it done. I hope this helps :-)

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It takes testosterone about 2 weeks to get out of the system. It is possible that the mounting and violent behavior will stop. But not all aggression is hormonal. Mounting can be a show of dominance or even anxiety. Aggression can be from dominance, fear or territorial. I hope things calm down for you guys soon! I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!
