Is high-fiber wet food good for cat anal gland & constipation issues?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | 4 years and 2 months old | 15 lbs

With a cat having reoccuring anal gland n constipation issues is a prescription or non prescription high fiber diet of wet food recommended? Or does the high fiber content take away from the nutritional value they need. Also is this ok for just occassional bouts. Thank you.

High fiber diets can be beneficial for anal gland and constipation issues. There is some evidence that pets with chronic anal gland disease could have underlying allergies and by treating the allergies the anal gland issues resolve. You can discuss with your local veterinarian what allergies are most common in your area and if they think Misty could have allergies.
