My puppy rubs his eye after uveitis drops. Will it get worse?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My 5 month old pup was diagnosed with Uveitis (I think). He was prescribed eye drops: Atropine & Cipro; and Vetropolycin eye ointment. After treating the eye he tends to bother the eye by rubbing with his paw or wiping his face in the grass. Will this prolong the infection?

Try to prevent him from rubbing the eye. This can make things worse or cause additional injury to the eye. If necessary an e-collar (lamp shade collar, cone) can be used. Many pet stores and feed stores sell these if Petey's vet is closed on Sunday.
