Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 40 lbs
I took my 1 year old lab to the vet this evening for an abscess. The vet said it's not a mature abscess so they weren't able to drain anything from it. Her CBC showed a RBC of 26. The low normal is 37. Her CMP was normal. The heart worm/tick disease test was normal. She was prescribed an NSAID and antibiotics. Is the anemia something I should be worried about? What can I do for it?

Anemia should be ideally retested. At this stage, with the clinical informations you provided, is mild to moderate and could have been caused only by inflammation. I would recommend to retest the anemia when both the abscess is completely resolved and the course of treatment over. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.
