My dog has a strange mark after being alone. Did he injure himself?

I left my dog in the house for a couple hours and came back and saw this. It's only in that area, could he have hurt himself ?

Ouch, poor pup! Yes, it is possible that he hurt himself while you gone. I recommend gently washing the area with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep it as clean and dry as possible, and monitor it for signs of infection (redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, and pus). If you see any signs of infection, have him seen by a vet for antibiotics. He may try to lick it, so I would put an Ecollar on him to keep him from doing that.
