Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Female | spayed | 30 lbs

My 3 year old miniature schnauzer has been chewing and has what looks like a form of schnauzer bumps, she know has chewed her back half completely open and is bleeding. I gave her antibiotics as well as switched her diet.which helped, but she's still chewing and scratches

I'm sorry Willow is having a rough time. Schnauzers are prone to a variety of skin disorders. She may need more diagnostics, even allergy testing to determine what is making her scratch so much. Be sure that she is on appropriate flea and tick control and keep her from voting or scratching the open areas. Sometimes this may require an ecollar. But it if she has open sores she needs to see the vet for appropriate medication. Depending on what your vet can do for her, you may want to discuss referral to a veterinary dermatologist to get her skin condition under control.
