My dog has a painful, crusty lump on her cheek. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 4 years and 5 months old | 11 lbs

Our dog had signs of pain last week orally we went to vet and saw no obvious signs and didn't take scans. She has acted sensitive and now there appears to be a growth of some kind on her left Lower cheek. It's crusty and hard and I have looked under and it's not in relation to a tooth. I've attached an image of the inflamed side and the side that is normal.

This looks infected with either bacteria and/or yeast. I can't tell if anything else is going on like an abscess or tumor. Sophie needs to be re-examined and likely more tests done to determine what's going on.
