My dog's rash is spreading, and medicine isn't helping. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 25 lbs

Her stomach started breaking out and has been for a couple days. Then today I noticed it had spread and she was breaking out on her chest and legs. I have given her recommended medicine and still nothing. What should I do?

Hello. I am sorry that Moo Moo isn't feeling well. By breaking out I assume you mean that she is developing a rash of some sort on the abdomen and now on the chest and legs. If she has a skin rash the causes could be infectious (bacterial, parasites), allergic, or other weird causes like auto-immune or cancer-type skin lesions. Sometimes more than one medication needs to be given. I would recommend revisiting with your vet to discuss the cause. They may need to take cultures or skin scrapings, and may try different medications. I hope Moo Moo feels better soon, good luck with her!
