My dog got dirt in his nose and has breathing issues. Home remedies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Papillon | Male | neutered | 6 years and 1 month old | 12 lbs

Ptolemy was digging a hole in moist soil and sniffing in it-obviously getting dirt all up his nose but it turned out so bad I had to carry him home from the walk so I bathed him and even tried using a neti pot (he hated) but he's still having a bit of breathing problems but is there anything I can do to clear his nose at home, I don't want to re visit the vet again especially if he'll be fine anyways. *Also it was moist enough that it wasn't dust and it didn't fly around.* Thanks

Poor Ptolemy. I would suggest trying to flush his nose again if he's sneezing or rubbing his face, and and if it continues you will need to have him examined by his vet . If he doesnt seem bothered by it at this stage, hes probably cleared the dirt out.
