My dog has milk, black discharge, and pain. Is she miscarrying?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 9 months old | 90 lbs

noticed milk coming from dogs nipples a few days ago.Today she started having a discharge that looks like tar and is pain.Could she be having a miscarriage?

I am assuming this is a vaginal discharge you are describing and not that the milk appears black. Nicole could be experiencing false pregnancy with uterine infection or be truly pregnant and having labor complications. Because of the latter possibility she needs to see a veterinarian soon because if there is a puppy stuck in the birth canal it can cause serious and fatal complications such as infection, hemorrhage and uterine tears.
