My cat has a fever after new kitten. Did she catch something from it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

Lola (who is 1) has been running a fever off and on 103.5 for a few days. Just got a kitten who has had her first set of shots and seems healthy. Lola is eating but less and drinking and using box. They are both indoor cats. Lola is up to date on shots. Could she have caught something from otherwise healthy new kitten?

It is unlikely she caught something from the kitten since the kitten is asymptomatic. If Lola's normal temperature isn't usually this high, then it may be best to have her bloodwork analyzed to see if there are any clues as to why she has a fever of unknown origin. Although infectious diseases do commonly cause fevers. I hope she feels better soon.
