Hello This could be him wanting to be near you, fear of his kennel/environment, anxiety or a combination of those. If you are using a kennel I recommend trying to make it his safe spot- if possible give treats when he goes in willingly or a toy he won't destroy. And while comforting him is a natural reaction it could positively re-enforce the negative behavior/whining so try to only reward Zeus when he is quiet or not resisting the kennel/environment. If that does not work you can also add something like DAP to the environment to help. If that is still not effective you could consider consulting a trainer to work with you one on one on the whining

You can try distracting him with chew toys, or treat dispensing toys. You can also make sure there's a comfortable bed available and turn on some white noise or a soft radio in the room where you want him to rest alone. Crate training can be very helpful as well if you haven't done that with him. He is very young still, so he will likely outgrow some of this behavior as well. In the meantime, here's some info on crate training, and you can consider hiring a trainer to help you as well. Good luck with Hercules! Thanks for asking PetCoach, and I am sorry we weren't able to get you a response sooner! crate training: https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-to-crate-train-your-puppy-or-older-dog/
