My dog has a red sore on his tail. Is it a tick, cut, or infection?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 4 years and 10 months old | 70 lbs

I have recently discovered when I chopped a clump of fur off around my digs tail , a red circle 2/3" off the spinal end of his tail, its 1" ruthly in diameter , how can I identify if its an old embedded tick or a cut of somekind? Any urgent advice would be greatly appreciated for my much loved pooch

It appears jack has a sore on his tail, but without an exam it's impossible to know what is causing it. You can gently scrub it with warm water and mild soap. If it is very weepy, has a bad odor or is very painful Kack should see his vet. Otherwise keep the area clean and prevent him from licking or chewing it and it may heal on its own. If not he may have an infection that should be addressed by a vet visit.
