Hello, my dog (Lab/Dob) is getting old and starts showing signs of hip problems. taking her for walks looks painful to her. Should I keep going out with her or let her rest? she's happy for a few minutes when we leave but after a few minutes she starts limping...thank you

If your dog is not already on a joint supplement and NSAID (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) for pain I would definitely recommend talking to your vet about getting started on these as they can make a world of difference for many dogs! Other options if this is not enough include Adequan injections, tramadol, gabapentin, and amantadine. Here is an article with more information on arthritis support in pets: http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=587. It is definitely worth discussing with your vet, as your dog may still be able to enjoy her walks!
