This may be sun damage, a precursor to skin cancer, a skin infection or damage due to excessive scratching. I recommend a full check up as soon as possible, in many cases removal of the ear tips and biopsy is recommended if no apparent infection is identified

Ouch, Zeus! Bumps and scabs on the ear in the absence of discharge certainly could be a result of trauma from play fighting, but they could also be an allergic response to fleas, mosquitoes, or other environmental allergens. Avoid applying any topical medications to Zeus' ear because cats are amazingly flexible in their ability to groom all parts of their bodies and ingesting any of these medications could be problematic. If the bumps persist in the next day or two, take Zeus to his vet for an exam. These lesions can sometimes become infected and require antibiotics.
