Can spaying or neutering kittens at 3 months stunt their growth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I am with a capture and socialize wild kittens. I am just a tamer so have no real say in how and what they do but they a spaying and neutering these kittens as early a 3 months. With a dog several vets have suggested 1 year it the get degenerative bone disease and arthritis early. Can this early neutering stunt their developmentally?

Early spaying and neutering of cats is not associated with the same degree of issues as early neutering in some breeds of dog. Rescue centres generally neuter early in order to allow kittens to be rehomed at a young age to improve sociability also
