My puppy has diarrhea, drooling, acting strange. What to ask vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 6 months and 13 days old | 80 lbs

My dog has been exhibiting some strange behaviours. He keeps laying down on walks, he had diarrhea twice yesterday (and one normal poop) and today he sniffed something and then started drooling badly and his mouth was trembling. He has also been refusing to go out into his dog run where he normally goes to the bathroom. He is eating and drinking like normal and seems to have his normal amount of energy. I have booked him a vet appointment, what should I ask them to check for me?

I would definitely bring in a sample of Moose's poop to be evaluated for intestinal parasites. This is one of the most common causes of diarrhea in young dogs. He may be getting worn out on your walks or just be uncomfortable in his intestines because of the diarrhea. I would also ask your vet to palpate his stomach and spine to rule out any underlying causes of pain and possibly do a rectal exam as well to make sure everything back there is as it should be.
