Why does my 6-week-old puppy have runny poop after hot dog treats?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 13 days old | 10 lbs

Hi there, I just got a new lab puppy, he is six weeks old. I got him Friday and haven't gotten him into the vet due to the long weekend. He's been doing great, sleeps a lot, eats well, plays when he is awake, barely cries at all. However, the past day he has had some runny poop. Sometimes its somewhat solid and other times it is more runny. I just started feeding him hot dog as treats (only like a pea size) every time he goes potty. He gets 1-3 each time. Im wondering if this is causing it.

Sudden diet change, GI parasites, eating food that irritates their stomach (such as the hot dogs), or something more serious like parvo or distemper virus. diarrhea and get the appropriate treatment. If he is eating and otherwise acting playful, I would recommend you stop feeding him the hot dog treats and add canned pumpkin to his diet to help firm up his stool. If he is not feeling well, I would recommend you have Rosco seen soon by a veterinarian to help determine the cause of his
