How to ease dog travel stress and ensure safe behavior around kids?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I'm planning to travel with both of my dogs to Mexico. Any suggestions to help ease with the flight and being in a new environment. We will be staying my my grandparents and aunts kids and their children. Also, how can I get them to be nice around kids? They like kids but they don't let anyone bully them. Ex:kick them, pull the tail, pull ears etc.

I would recommend acclimatizing them to their travel crate daily and start on a calming supplement or royal canin food 10-14days before travel and continue for at least 10-14days after. No dog should be expected to tolerate kicking or pulling of tails or ears and it is important to teach children safety and respectful handling of dogs. Crate the dogs unless directly supervised when young children are present
