My dog is crying out in pain. Is it constipation, fever, or urgent?

My dog has been crying out every 5 minutes. He seems to be hurting. I think he might be constipated but I'm not sure. How can I tell if he has fever? How can I cure his constipation? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 15 lbs

Poor Archie. I am sorry that he seems to be in pain. Pets don't typically get constipated and if he were he would be seen straining to poop and crying out during that time. Constipation is treated by increasing your pets water intake (subcutaneous fluids if it's severe) and getting an enema placed in the rectum. To check his temperature you have to place a thermometer in his rectum (part way) as this is he most accurate reading. Normal temperature in a dog is 100-102.5 degrees F. Pets that have a fever rarely scream out in pain. It sounds like Archie has another source of his pain that may only be found by having him examined by a vet in person. We want to get to the bottom of this quickly, because it sounds like it is urgent that he get help with this. I would also discourage you from giving him any over the counter people pain medication as well l, because these are quite toxic to pets and can cause liver and/or kidney failure after just one dose. I would recommend feeling Archie all over to see if you can determine where his pain is coming from. Then getting him seen by your vet to get him treated based on the source of the pain and the underlying cause. I hope your fur baby gets better soon. Best of luck.
