I recently adopted a cat who got a distemper vaccine on adoption day. She is now sick with an upper respiratory infection. Her mucus is yellow and she keeps sneezing and is very stuffed up. Could this be a reaction to the vaccine?

It is unlikely that she is sick from the vaccine (this rarely happens especially with killed vaccines), but instead she was exposed to a virus that she has not been protected against. Also if she were recently vaccinated (within the past couple of days), then it is likely she was exposed to a virus before her vaccine was give enough time to stimulate the proper immune response (typically takes 7 days for this to happen). At any rate, your sweet girl Daffy needs a short course of antibiotics prescribed by your vet to take care of her current upper respiratory infection and get her well again. I would recommend taking her in to he vet by tomorrow. I hope Daffy gets well soon. Best wishes.
