My dog ate herbal cigarettes (no tobacco). Is he going to be okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Terrier | Male | neutered | 25 lbs

My dog ate about two of my herbal cigarettes. They're made marshmallow root, rose petals, and red clover. He also ate a few of the filters, which are entirely cotton. There is no nicotine or tobacco in these cigarettes. Is he going to be okay?

These herbs are not considered toxic to dogs. Monitor for vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. If he chewed them up, they will likely pass uneventfully in the next 24 hours. See your veterinarian if any of these symptoms develop.
