Our dog Kermit has a small red pimple looking bump in between his front paw toes. He let me look at it and it doesn't seem to be bothering him. I only noticed because we went for a hike today and I was checking him for ticks. Does he need to visit the vet immediately or should we monitor it and wait?

Hello there. This is a great question. I don't think this is an emergency situation but I do think it is something you should have checked out soon like in the next week or so. It could be something simple like an infection or a clogged hair follicle (pore) but it could be something more serious like a tumor/mass even at his young age. It is always better to be safe than sorry and have something like that checked out by your vet. I hope this helps. Best wishes to you and Kermit! Dr. Amber

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. This could be from a penetrating injury such as a thorn and Griffin may have made it worse by licking or chewing at it. I would get a plastic cone and put it around his head and soak his paw in a solution of Epsom salt and water for the next 3 days. If there is no improvement or the area worsens, I would get him seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.

There looks to be a red, swollen bump between his toes. This could be a foreign body like a grass seed or foxtail, or it could be a growth. Have him checked out by a vet so it can get diagnosed as needed.

It looks like an infection or an allergic reaction rather than a tumor, but it needs to be checked and treated nevertheless. i would probably recommend to try and get an apointment tomorrow with your vet if it is possible although i would not consider this as an emergency.
