my guinea pig bit but did not consume one of my houseplants. immediately after she began to make a gagging motion. she has been eating after but occasionally makes the gagging motion and is not as active as usual. I'm very worried and fear that she may be poisoned. is there anything at home I could use to help her.

Hello. So sorry that Isabella is having this issue. The only thing I can recommend at this point is for you to try rinsing her mouth out with cool water. Use an eye dropper or syringe or something like that. Don't use anything with force or you may cause her to aspirate water down into her trachea causing a pneumonia! If you don't feel comfortable doing that then you may have to get her to a vet for an exam and some treatment. It is hard to say if she has been poisoned without knowing what the plant was that she bit. When in doubt it is always best to seek veterinary advice and get an exam. I hope this helps. Best wishes to you and Isabella. Dr. Amber
