Poor Ciara! Straining to urinate and only dribbling small amounts of urine occurs most frequently as a result of a urinary tract infection. Other possible causes include bladder stones or crystals in the urine. Ciara should be examined by her vet and will need to have a urinalysis performed. In all likelihood, she will need a course of antibiotics. I hope that all goes well!

Hi there and thanks for posting! if all else is normal otherwise and she is currently urinating only a few drops and does this frequently-this is a little suspicious of a urinary tract infection or other urinary issue such as bladder stones. I would recommend she visit with your veterinarian soon for an exam and urinalysis to rule out a urinary tract infection. If your veterinarian is suspicious of urinary stones, an x-ray may be taken as well. She may need to be on antibiotics or other medications as needed. I hope this helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
