My cat has a draining lump near her anus. Is it an anal gland problem?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 1 month old

I'm fairly sure (based on googling) my cat (mostly outside) cat has a problem with her left anal gland. It looks a bit like a 2nd anus ~1 in. below left of her anus (

It's very possible that Jumpy may have a problem with one of her anal glands, based on your description. If there is a visible opening there that is draining, this usually means that the gland is infected and has ruptured. I would recommend taking Jumpy to the vet to have this checked, since she will need antibiotics to treat the infection.

Your description sounds like either an infected and draining anal gland abscess or possibly an abscess or wound from an injury such as a cat bite. You may try to gently clean the area with warm water. Ideally Jumpy would benefit from seeing a veterinarian and likely being started on appropriate antibiotics and pain medication.
