Why is my dog drinking, peeing a lot, and has a pregnant-like belly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 11 months old | 70 lbs

My dog is a 6 year old pit/lab female. She has dry mouth and nose and increased water consumption followed by increased urination. Her belly got bigger, some think she is pregnant. What might be the cause and what I need to do to help her?

Common causes would be Pyometra (uterine infection- an emergency condition!), Cushing's disease and liver disease. either way i would strongly recommend taking her to the vet urgently, this is not something you can treat at home.
