My senior dog has bad teeth, jaw pain, and is vomiting. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Male | neutered | 13 years and 4 months old

My dog has really bad teeth and his jaw hurts him. He has a trouble eating his dry dog food. He threw up 3 times within an hour and it was yellow liquid. I gave him some wet food so he can get something in his stomach. He's about 13-15 years old. He also has an infection in his left eye. I don't want to put him down, is there anything I can do to help him out please

Some medications might help. Antibiotics and pain killers (anti-inflammatories) can definitively improve his condition clearing up mouth infection. Symptomatic treatment for vomiting might help as well. I would recommend to have him on a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice.
