My 1-week-old kitten has open mouth sores. What should I do?

My 1 week old kitten squid had scabs on the sides of his mouth they are now open and just flesh. What is this and how can I treat it?

It is hard to say what this is exactly without seeing Squid and his sores. He may have traumatized the area and it may now be infected. He may need oral antibiotics or other medications from the veterinarian to get these sores to heal as this area is difficult to medicate topically. It is difficult to medicate topically because Squid will likely lick off the medication quickly. Therefore, you will need to make sure that any topical medications used, if they are used, are safe to ingest. Your vet can help you to determine what will be the best and safest way to treat Squid's sores. Best of luck with Squid.
