How do I switch my 3-week-old orphan puppy to puppy formula?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 18 days old

How can i introduce puppy formula to a 3 week old, orphan shepherd, whos been bottle fed baby formula? She's actually really healthy. Gaining weight, stools look healthy, pee isnt dark, no crying, etc. But i would still like to stop the baby fomula and make the transition too puppy formula. What is my best bet?

I'm glad to hear that Navi seems to be doing so well! As you know, you certainly want to switch her to puppy formula since human formulas are not appropriately balanced for puppies. Consider mixing the two formulas together for the next 2-3 days to gradually introduce Navi to her new diet and to decrease the risk of developing vomiting or diarrhea. Next week you will be able to introduce softened puppy food (canned or kibble moistened with water) to Navi's diet as well. I hope that all goes well!
