My itchy dog has cuts on his face. What's the risk of infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 55 lbs

He's a itchy dog, always has been, we're getting a spray or cream specified for it and hopefully it will help. He scratched his face so hard that he has two little cuts on his snout! whats the chance of these getting infected? i've been keeping my eye on it and making sure he's not scratching there anymore but its still kind of hard to see since he has furry snout! i'm worried it could get infected and I can't really see the cut well so I'd have no idea!

Face wounds rarely get infected due to their good supply, any smell should raise concerns. Cutting the hair away from winds and applying dentisept or Manuka honey may help and both of these are safe if licked off
