Is catnip safe for my 3-month-old kitten? Will it cause drug effects?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 2 days old | 13 lbs

I bought a chew toy filled with Catnip for my 3month ragdoll kitten to ease his teething. But am suspicious about catnip effect so haven't given it to him yet. Will it be safe for him at this age? Is catnip smell good for cats in general? I hate to induce any drug like effects in my innocent kitten...so want to be double sure. Please HELP.

Cat-nip will make some cats very excited, and some very relaxed. Some cats will have no effect at all. It is very safe and a toy with some cat-nip in it is fine. Good luck with Baluu and I hope he enjoys his new toy.
