With training dogs the first thing you have to figure out is what motivates them. Some dogs are food motivated so using food as rewards will have the most effect. Some dogs just want praise or attention. If you can find something that is high value for Tikari you can use that to motivate them for your desired behavior. There are lots of different training methods but you need to find the one that best suits your dog, Australian Shepherd's tend to be highly intelligent and work motivated. So often times finding a "job" for them may help. Age also plays a factor. Typically you need different methods for puppies than older dogs. In either case but especially puppies, keep training sessions short- 15 Minutes at a time to limit frustration.
