Dog near snail: Lungworm risk? Should I switch parasite prevention?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 4 years old | 4 lbs

I'm really scared right now. I've seen an article on lungworm and how they can happen and I remembered that my four years old little goofball was near a snail but I I quickly told her not to and turned her away from it and moved on. Is she safe from it? Did I do good? I'm scared. Also would it be a good idea to switch from Frontline to NexGard for awhile? What should I do with her separation anxiety and what should I do as to help her calm down from stress? Thanks!

If refused frontline protection has been effective for fleas and ticks, i recommend you add a separate oral worm tablet which covers lungworm such as milbemax. Speak to your vets office to determine if lungworm is present in your area as you may be a very small risk
