My macaw stopped talking after beak trim. Is it related to the bleeding?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male

My hahns macaw seems to be loosing his voice. He used to talk and shriek a lot but since going to the vets last week to have his beak clipped he now just makes little whimpering noises. They did cut his beak too short and it bled, lots. Could there be a connection?

I'm sorry Bailey had such a traumatic experience at the veterinarian. It is possible that episode is still affecting him. Give him some time. Speak softly and move slowly around him. Play gently and offer praise and rewards. If he doesn't "regain" his voice, have him rechecked by your vet (or a different vet) to diagnose illness or injury.
