Why is my puppy's leg fading color and she keeps putting it in mouth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Redbone Coonhound | Female | unspayed | 10 months old | 49 lbs

My Red puppy, ten months old, has a foreleg that is fading in color. Its not symmetrical. I don't think it bothers her because she runs like lightening. However, she does seem to sit with it in her mouth. It does not get wet from sucking. Nor does she bite it. She just sits there

Hi, You need to have Tinker evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. If her forelimb is changing color and she is chewing on it, I would be concerned that she cannot feel it. Perhaps, she sustained a trauma that resulted in nerve damage. If that is the case and she cannot feel her leg, you will need to make sure she doesn't self mutilate. Please follow up with your veterinarian immediately.
