Why does my dog have scab-like spots near his stomach or shoulder?

Hi, someone help me on what I've found on my dog skin. Scab like near stomach shoulder. He only messes with it when I mess with it. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered

Without a physical exam or at least a picture there is no way we can determine the type of condition present. Hotspots are very common during summer and most heal uneventfully if kept clean with salt water or hibiscrub
