Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Female | 8 years and 1 month old | 19 lbs

Hello. Since a couple of days I feel so terrible. I have a cocker spaniel. Actually my boyfriend's dog. We have been together with the dog since a year. My boyfriend is away now. We were so cool together even since we first met. The dog, she is 5 years old. She would come to me in the crowded visitors. I was her favorite. But a couple of days ago I got so mad. I hit her in the head. Everytime she sees my hands rising, she tucks her tail, won't come to me. Won't walk sometimes. pls give me advice

I'm sorry you feel so terrible! It does sound like Maya is afraid now that you may hit her when you rise your hands, and it will take time for her to realize that you won't hurt her again. Make slow movements around her, don't raise your hands quickly, and speak to her in a calm voice. She will learn to trust you again, and I'm sure you won't react by hitting her again. I hope this helps!
