Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 years and 2 months old | 25 lbs
Dog is vomiting/has diarrhea for 24 hours. At first vomiting smelled like feces and then once it had a metallic smell but since has just been normal vomit. I believe she's had diarrhea more often than vomiting. She is an older dog but doesnt seem to act sick or lethargic and almost acts like she feels better every time she gets it out. Vomiting has only happened once in the last 12 hours but diarrhea continues.

She might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this. withhold food for 12 hours then offer Riley boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she continues vomiting and having diarrhea , take her to the vet to get treatment.

Hi, and thanks for your question. As a first approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitely recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice more diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. As you already have tried a chicken and rice diet and the diarrhea persists you should make an appointment with a veterinarian for an exam of Snowball. Diarrhea and throwing up can have many causes. It is basically a problem with the stomach and intestines caused by a food over sensitivity, eating something that does not agree with the dog, intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, etc. As she is otherwise happy, eating and drinking , this may just be a mild enteritis, however she should be seen by a veterinarian.
