My dog is quiet and not eating during a thunderstorm. Is he afraid?

It's raining heavily with thundering and lightning. Mike has become really quite and ate very little. Is he afraid or is it something else?

Poor Mike. It is difficult to answer your question without getting Mike's full clinical history. However, loud noises can really frighten our pets so it would be a good reason for him not to be himself. Try offer him a place where he can hide and feel secure during these times, a confined area, with his bed and a blanket over so that the lightening is masked and if possible away from the thunders.
