Stepped on my declawed cat's paw, it bled. Should I call the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 10 months and 22 days old | 7.8 lbs

My cat was declawed 5 days ago and tonight I accidentally stepped on her paw. It was bleeding, but I was able to get it to stop. She is walking on it and jumping on my bed with no signs of limping. Should I be concerned and should I call the vet to take her in?

I am sorry to hear about Chanel! If the bleeding has stopped and she is walking on it normally, then I would just continue to monitor her closely. If bleeding starts again or limping/swelling develops, then call your vet. Also, jumping up and down on furniture should be discouraged while the declaw is healing!!!
