My reptile's leg looks dislocated. Should I see a vet and get a cost estimate?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I just got him recently from someone who rescued him from Petco a while back. He said he didn't realize it but it almost looks like his leg might be dislocated? He gets around okay on it. Is this something that the vet should look at? And is there a way I can get an estimate cost wise on what the vet might do if it is required to take him in? Thanks! Not sure how I'm supposed to attach pictures but there are pictures of him in his profile gallery if you can see that.

Ivar should be examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. An xray of the limb will diagnose a dislocation or fracture. A dislocation could possibly be reduced externally but the risk of dislocating again is high. A fracture may require surgery depending on the type of fracture and location. You can request an estimate for services after an exam is complete. Most clinics will provide one as a matter of hospital policy. Costs can vary by geographic location and by diagnosis.
