My chihuahua's arm broke near joint: Cast or plate, what's best?

Hi, my chihuahua broke his right front arm near the joint and were having the vet put a cast on since that what she recommended. The day we made appointment which is today she's not the one putting cast on it's a different vet and she recommend that we put a plate on, but the other vet said it won't work because how close it is to the joint. So I'm confused on what's best. Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 9.7 lbs

The best way to make the right decision is to send the xrays to an orthopedic vet specialist, by looking at the xray he will be able to tell you what needs to be done. it's very important to do the right decision now as it will be more complicated to repair it later if it doesn't heal properly.
